Future Plans - What We Would Like To Do

- We would like to set up classes in every prison in the UK to encourage inmates, many of whom struggle valiantly alone, year after year, to reach the freedom the disciplines of meditation and yoga can bring.

- There is an urgent need to recruit and train more qualified yoga teachers and to continue to support them in their challenging work with prisoners.

This statue called Kenneth Being Free of an inmate in the meditation class at HMP Wandsworth sits in the PPT Office. It was made by Meditation teacher, Ron Farquhar, himself a former prisoner.

- We would like to produce a cartoon book of yoga and meditation without words, for non-readers.

- We want to extend contacts with Prison Governors, Education Officers, Probation Officers, Teachers, Chaplains and prison staff, who can sustain and encourage prisoners to grow and change by means of the methods we recommend.

- There are many new books, CDs and cassettes we would like to produce as well as new versions of existing books to make them more accessible for those prisoners with learning difficulties.

NB: The remit of the Prison Phoenix Trust is to support prisoners in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. We do not have the resources to assist prisoners elsewhere, or respond to requests.
